A fine-art eye, on your side of the lens
Gary trained at Emily Carr in 1984 and has spent more than twenty years behind the lens. His commercial and product work has won international awards, and that same fine-art eye goes into everything he shoots, whether it is a portrait, a premium product, or the brand and the people behind it. He works on location across White Rock, South Surrey, and Greater Vancouver and in his own studio, and travels for the right project.
A phone or an AI filter cannot do what a real shoot does, in three ways that matter:
- Gear that sees more. Professional lenses, lighting, and metering capture depth and detail your eye sees and a phone flattens, whether the subject is a face or a product. It comes out present and dimensional, not washed out.
- Direction that draws it out. The camera is the easy part. Gary reads the light and the subject, finding a real, unforced smile in a portrait or the angle and detail that make a product sing, so the result looks alive, not stiff or staged.
- Editing that amplifies, never invents. Each frame is finished by hand: warmer, sharper, more alive. Gary amplifies what is already there. He never retouches a subject into something it is not, and never lets AI stand in for the real thing.
Real light, real moment, the real thing.
